Renowned Nigerian rapper and influencer Ruggedman a.k.a (ruggedy baba) has said that many young Nigerians give more attention to reality TV show, BBNaija than the government because they believe the tv show has more to offer them.
In an interview with The Punch, the rapper further said the government is still in denial about the killings and shooting of peaceful protesters at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State in October 2020.
“I think the only reason the Nigerian youths are so serious about BBN is because of the transparency. It is also because of the fact that they know their votes count. They also know that at the end of the day, the organisers fulfil their promises.
That is why people are so serious about it. Can you say that about the Nigerian government? So that is why I said the Nigerian government has a lot to prove to the people, to show transparency, to show competence, to live up to expectations and also fulfil the promises they made. The Nigerian government needs to earn the trust of the people, especially the youths.
“Till today we are still trying to find out who shot at the protesters at the toll gate in 2020. A year after the incident, we still have not heard anything about it. There are so many things the government needs to come through with first before the youths will trust them”.
