Undoubtedly, the news about the Oscars slap heard ’round the world has made its way across the globe. Will Smith felt upset with Chris Rock’s remark about Jada Pinkett Smith at the Academy Awards earlier this year, which caused his career to take a dramatic turn. Smith walked onto the stage and slapped Rock in front of the live crowd and the millions of viewers watching the ceremony online, but Lupita Nyong’o’s face was the part that would go viral.
At the Oscars, the Black Panther beauty could be seen making facial expressions as the heated situation developed while she was seated close to the Smiths. She at last acknowledged being slightly involved in the incident in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Lupita Nyong’o Expected To Become A Meme After Will Smith & Chris Rock’s Oscars Slap
She laughed as she told the site, “Once the moment was gone, I realized, ‘Oh my God, there’s no way all this happening and I’m not in the image.'” “I knew I was going to be a meme as soon as it was done.”
Nyong’o remained silent when asked what it was like to be in the room when that happened. She states, “Quite frankly, I don’t want to put any more fuel to that thing.”
Rock has not yet publicly accepted Smith’s several attempts to apologize for the current situation. However, the comic has addressed the delicate subject in his stand-up acts.
Smith was branded a pariah in the public for months as a result of the incident, but things now appear to be back on track as projects that had been put on hold are once again in development.
