Pink Sweat$ Biography

Pink Sweats (stylized as Pink Sweat$) is an American singer and songwriter. David Bowden (born February 14, 1992) is an American singer and songwriter. On November 2, 2018, he released his debut EP Volume 1, which included the track “Honesty.” Pink Planet, his debut album, was released in February 2021.

Bowden was born and raised in Philadelphia. His mother is a gospel vocalist and his father is a priest. He grew up in a pious home and was only permitted to listen to Christian music until he was seventeen. 50 Cent and Kanye West were the first rap artists he listened to. Bowden had a three-year fight with Achalasia after graduating from high school, and his recovery inspired him to pursue music as a full-time career.

His stage name was given to him because he often wore pink sweatpants (inspired by Cam’ron) and was nicknamed “Pink Sweats.” He began his musical career as a demo vocalist at Sigma Sound Studios when he was 19 years old, when he discovered his love for composing and began to pursue a career in music. For rapper Tierra Whack and country duet Florida Georgia Line, he created music in a variety of genres.

Bowden was encouraged to start keeping his songs to himself after surviving a three-year battle with a rare esophageal illness, and secured a digital distribution arrangement with Human Re Sources. With “Honesty” and “No Replacing You,” a pair of emotional, unpolished ballads that strongly contrasted with commercial R&B, he made his recorded debut as Pink Sweat$ in July 2018. Both tracks were included on Volume 1, his debut EP, released in November of that year.

Volume 2 was out in March of the following year, and it was just as straightforward and quick as the first. A string of singles followed over the next two years, including the 2020 ballad “17” and the peppy “Ride with Me.” Pink Sweat$ released The Prelude EP in July 2020 to appease fans who were waiting for his debut full-length album, which featured a selection of tracks from the still-in-development album. Pink Planet, his debut album, was released in February 2021 on Atlantic Records and reached number 133 on the Billboard 200 list. Pink Sweat$ released his solo single “I Feel Good” later that year, following up his duet with HONNE on “What Would You Do?”
