NECO Registrar Godswill Obioma killed in Niger state

Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO), Professor Godswill Obioma has been killed in Minna, Niger state.

Details of his murder is still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, as some sources claim he was shot by unknown gunmen, while others claim he was strangled to death by the killers

“The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” Elizabeth Obioma, wife of the victim told Peoples Gazette by telephone on Tuesday morning.

She portrayed that her husband had recently gotten back to Minna from an outing to Abuja when the assassins, sneaking in his compound, plummeted on him and choked him.

Mr Obioma has been meeting face to face efforts to eliminate him from office as the head of NECO, a noticeable assessment body run by the Nigerian government.

Mr Obioma, 67, was delegated head of NECO scarcely a year prior on May 14, 2020. He hailed from Abia in Nigeria’s Igbo-ruled South-East district.

The occurrence comes only couple of hours after Ahmed Gulak, a top legislator was killed without blinking by shooters in Owerri, Imo State.
