Ten Hag Finally Speaks Out About His Ties To Manchester United, A "Wonderful Club"

Ten Hag breaks silence on links to ‘great club’ Manchester United

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Ajax, has spoken out about speculations linking him to Manchester United, but insists he is just concerned with his current team.

According to reports earlier this week, United have interviewed eleven Hag for the vacant management role at Old Trafford and have began to research the Dutchman in preparation for an appointment in the summer.

Since United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of last season, the Ajax manager has been one of the frontrunners for the job.

Ralf Rangnick has been appointed interim manager till the end of the season as United attempts to rebuild after five seasons without a title. Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, is also rumored to be in the running.

The news of ten Hag’s United interview, on the other hand, appears to make him the clear favorite.

Ten Hag commended United and revealed there had been discussions, but maintained he was entirely focused on Ajax in an interview with Sport1 (via Daily Mail).

“I’ve met with Ajax at the end of every season so far.” This will be the case again this time. Ajax and Erik ten Hag are currently really happy with each other, in my opinion.

“In the industry, everyone knows everyone.” It’s usual to have discussions with representatives from rival clubs. Manchester United is a fantastic club with even better supporters.

“However, I can only repeat myself: my entire attention is on Ajax!” We’re already making preparations for the next season.

“Right now, my attention is solely on Ajax,” the Dutchman stated. But you never know with football. I’m not going to rule anything out just yet. I’m now working as a performer at Ajax.

“We still have eight finals left, including the cup final against [PSV] Eindhoven, and I’ll need all of my stamina for that.” Anything else would be a waste of time.

“I understand that in football, anything can happen at any time. I hope that folks here would understand if I decide to take the next step at some point.”
