The NZ PRT Bamyan is tasked with maintaining security in Bamyan Province. It does this by conducting frequent presence patrols throughout the province. The PRT also supports the provincial and local government by providing advice and assistance to the Provincial Governor, the Afghan National Police and district sub-governors. Thirdly the NZ PRT identifies, prepares and provides project management for NZAID projects within the region. These are contracted to Afghan companies who hire local workers to assist with the completion of these projects. Thus each project provides new amenities, and also provides employment in the region.

US military seen guarding part of Kabul airport

US military have set up a border at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, guarding something like a piece of the rambling complex.

A few recordings shared via social media shows razor wire has been laid to keep down to many individuals frantic to leave Kabul. American soldiers can be seen standing guard behind the razor wire.

It’s still muddling how much of the airport the US military is controlling.

On Sunday, the US Department of State reported that US forces would take over air traffic control at Kabul airport, saying that troop presence at the airport would be increased and expanded to 6,000.
