Benjamin Mendy has been accused of two extra counts of assault

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been accused of two extra counts of rape, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

The 27-year-old has effectively been charged of four counts of assault and one count of rape, and was denied bail the month before.

The France international, who joined Manchester City from Monaco in a £52 million deal in 2017, is right now being hung on remand at HMP Altcourse, Liverpool.

The Crown Prosecution Service said in an assertion on Tuesday that it has approved Cheshire police to accuse Mendy of two extra counts of assault and Louis Saha Matturie, 40, with two extra counts of assault and one count of rape.

Mendy, of Withinlee Road, Prestbury, Cheshire, and Matturie, of Edwin Court, Eccles, will show up at Stockport Magistrates Court on November 17.

Mendy currently faces six counts of assault and one of rape which identify with four complainants beyond 16 years old.

A preliminary date has been set for January 24.

Mendy has shown up for Manchester City this season before he was suspended by the club in August.

In an assertion the club said that the matter is dependent upon a legitimate cycle and the club is hence incapable to offer further remark until that interaction is finished.

‘The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete.’
