Welcome to InterswitchSPAK, a Pan – African Science competition designed
to empower African students in the area of STEM. The initiative was
introduced for High school students to develop, ignite and chart a
career path in the area of STEM education and drive them towards fully
optimizing their potential to make Africa a better place for us all.
The competition is presently in the following countries Nigeria and Kenya.
InterswitchSPAK is the biggest Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics (STEM) competition in Nigeria. Thousands of secondary
schools in Nigeria have registered their students for a chance to win
N12.5m worth of scholarships already. if you have not registered your

INTERSWITCHSPAK OBJECTIVES
To arouse and sustain keen interest in the study of STEM in high schools across Africa. | To raise the standard of STEM education and reward excellence with educational grants through an unbiased competition that would promote sound education in Africa. | To create a vehicle that is genuinely interested in the growth, development and well-being of Africa students and teachers through various interventions including scholarship schemes for outstanding STEM students.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Registration to participate is strictly online via www.interswitchspak.com or via https://kenya.interswitchspak.com/ | Each School is required to present their BEST six (6) students in Science in form three (3) regardless of the Sex, religion, tribe or Region | Mixed-schools are required to have at least three female students-amongst the six (6) that would represent them | Every student will participate in the qualifying test at any of the test centers across Kenya | The top 54 students will proceed to the competition to battle for the crown of Kenya’s best science student
THE COMPETITION
The competition is in two main levels
FIRST ROUND: WRITTEN QUALIFYING TEST
In this stage, all the online registered students’ (i.e. the best SIX (6) from each registered school) will write a National qualifying test conducted by the Ministry of Education at designated centers across Kenya. Each school is to prepare their representatives for the qualifying test in four subjects- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
SECOND ROUND: TV QUIZ COMPETITION
The best 54 students (with the highest scores) out of those who wrote the regional qualifying test will be invited to participate at this stage of the competition, which includes the InterswitchSPAK Masterclass. This will be recorded and transmitted on Television across Kenya.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
The InterswitchSPAK National test will hold on Tuesday 20th to Tuesday 27th June 2023 across Kenya. | Students must come to their
designated test centers by 8am for accreditation with their Registration
slip duly signed and stamped by their school principal. |. Latecomers
will not be allowed to write the test. | Students are to come along with
only HB pencil, eraser, ruler and statistical table, NO CALCULATORS
WILL BE ALLOWED | Students must conduct themselves in an orderly manner,
any act of misconduct will lead to the disqualification of the student.
The competition is open to form 3|Senior 5 students ONLY. The decision
of the organizers/ MOE is final and we shall not enter into any
correspondence with anyone regarding the conduct of this examination.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE?
You must be a student in form three (3) attending a full time Secondary education in any High school (Public and Private) in Kenya | You must be between the age of 15 to 18 residing in Kenya | You must be willing to travel out of Kenya | Sound knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics based on the current form three (3) KNEC syllabus is important | You must be willing to comply with the rules laid down by the Producers.

How long is the test?The test consists of 100 questions with a duration of 1 hour 15 minutes.

When and where do we get the results?Results will be released Wednesday 15th June 2023 and will be available
to all on this portal, and also sent to individual students email
addresses. -
How does the National Qualifying Test works?All registered students will participate in an online National
qualifying examination, out of which the top 500 across Kenya will be
selected to write the next online qualifying examination, then The top
14 students across Kenya based on merit and top 20 students in Kenya
(from the top 500 who wrote the second part of the stage one
Examination) will qualify for the second stage which is the National TV
quiz contest for the best STEM student in Kenya. -
Would there be an option to write exams in centers and what are the available centers?InterswitchSPAK Is strictly an online based CBT examination which can
be taken from anywhere you are (school, home, etc.) using a microphone
and camera – enabled device. -
How many students can a school register?The system allows you to register minimum of six (6) and maximum of twenty (20) science students to represent each school.

If I register 10 students, can all my students make it to stage 2 if they qualify?The maximum number of students that can represent a school is five (5)
students to represent a school even though they all qualify for the next
stage of the examination. -
Can I make use of the school email in registering all my students?The school email can only be used in registering the school, but each
student requires their own email or parent’s/guardian’s email address -
What syllabus is used in setting questions for the Competition?Each school is to prepare their representatives in Mathematics,
Physics; Chemistry & Biology based on the current form 3|Senior 5
KNEC syllabuses. -

How many subjects should I prepare my ward for?Each representative should be prepared in four subjects- Mathematics, Physics; Chemistry & Biology.

How many questions are they going to ask per subject?For the National Qualifying Exams. 100 Objective questions in 75 minutes; 25 each from the 4 Subjects.

How will I know that I am qualified for the next stage?A mail from the InterswitchSPAK team will be sent to you notifying you
of your qualification into the next stage of the competition. -
I did not get a verification link?Ensure the email you provided is correct and active. If the problem persists, contact our helpdesk.

Does the verification link expire, and if it does, how long does it take?Verification links expires after thirty (30) minutes.

My school is a mix school, can we register?All school types can register but in support of the girl child
education it is mandatory that mixed schools register at least three (3)
girls for the competition. -
How do I know the registration process have been completed?To confirm that the registration process has been completed, after
clicking register button, a printable slip for all the registered
students will come up and that slip will also be sent to the registered
school email. -
Can I use the school email to register?To register the school, it is required that you use the school email.

Can I use my teacher’s mail to register?You can use any mail if it is valid and active.

Can I edit my students’ detail after submitting my registration?Editing student information after submission cannot be done, for this
reason we advise double checking of each student’s information before
clicking on the register button. -
Can I register on my own?No, you need to register under your school.
TERMS AND CONDITION FOR INTERSWITCHSPAK EAST AFRICA (STUDENTS)
InterswitchSPAK East Africa is a competition that exposes students to educational experience both in and out of the countries. To this end, a regional qualifying test will be conducted around East Africa, from which the top 54 will qualify for stage II of the competition with a chance of winning, scholarships worth:
- 1st Position – USD 15,000 (1.5Million KSH) (UGX 55,073,610)
- 2nd Position – USD 7,500 (750,000 KSH) (UGX 27,536,805)
- 3rd Position – USD 1,500 (150,000 KSH) (UGX 5,507,361)
All six (6) Finalist get a Laptop each.
The top 54, will also participate in an international educational excursion amongst other things. To this end, it is very important for the 54 qualified students to possess the following documents upon confirmation of his or her participation in the stage II of the competition:
- Valid International Passport
- Valid Yellow Card
All qualified candidates must present the following d within 10 working days after the release of the results of the regional qualifying tests
- Birth certificate
- Passport Photograph
- Confirmation Letter from School
- Consent Letter from Both Parents.
- Parents ID
- Medical Report
Any student who does not or is unable to present the required documents before the closing date will be automatically disqualified and the slot will be given to the next student based on their score.

TERMS AND CONDITION FOR INTERSWITCHSPAK EAST AFRICA (PARENTS)
InterswitchSPAK East Africa is a competition that exposes students to educational experience both in and out of the countries. To this end, a regional qualifying test will be conducted around East Africa, from which the top 54 will qualify for stage II of the competition with a chance of winning, scholarship worth:
- 1st Position – USD 15,000 (1.5Million KSH) (UGX 55,073,610)
- 2nd Position – USD 7,500 (750,000 KSH) (UGX 27,536,805)
- 3rd Position – USD 1,500 (150,000 KSH) (UGX 5,507,361)
All six (6) Finalist get a Laptop each.
For the top six (6) finalists their journey includes an international educational travel for excursion amongst other things. To this end, each of the qualified finalists is expected to travel with a parent, hence the following are required from the selected parent:
- Roles of the Parent:
- To accompany his/her child.
- To supervise and monitor his/her child.
Selected parent must:
- Have valid International Passport.
- Have valid Yellow Card
- Have a consent letter from the other parent.
- Be willing to travel to Nigeria.

InterswitchSPAK East Africa is a competition that exposes students to educational experience both in and out of the countries. To this end, a regional qualifying test will be conducted around East Africa, from which the top 54 will qualify for stage II of the competition with a chance of winning, scholarship worth:
- 1st Position – USD 15,000 (1.5Million KSH) (UGX 55,073,610)
- 2nd Position – USD 7,500 (750,000 KSH) (UGX 27,536,805)
- 3rd Position – USD 1,500 (150,000 KSH) (UGX 5,507,361)
All six (6) Finalist get a Laptop each.
For the top 54, their journey includes an international educational excursion amongst other things. To this end, there would be need for volunteer chaperones
Roles of the Volunteering Chaperones
- To accompany the students assigned to him/her.
- To supervise and monitor his/her assigned students.
Volunteering officials to Chaperone the qualified candidates should have and be;
- Willing to travel to Nigeria.
- Interested in the well-being of the students.
- Valid TSC Leave Letter.
- Valid International Passport.
- Valid Yellow Card.
Aside from the educational/carrier experience, each of the chaperones will have:
E-certificate of attendance.
All-expense paid educational excursion/trip to Nigeria (travel tickets, VISA, accommodation, feeding etc.)
A per diem stipend of $400 (for the 7-day trip).
